My complete skincare routine

I’m sorry that I haven’t uploaded for a while; I’ve been really busy and trying to get organised. This was a post that I really wanted to do, as skin care is so important and I think I have a system I like. I know how hard it is to find something that works, beauty is very personal. These are the things that work for me and have helped me deal with breakouts!

Step 1: Cleanse
If you are going to get one thing, I would recommend some kind of makeup remover or cleanser. Obviously if you don’t wear makeup then there’s no point buying a makeup remover, but cleansing is such an important step. I feel like it just washes the day away, and makes me instantly feel better. I use the Garnier softening cleansing lotion to remove my eye and face makeup. I wear waterproof mascara all the time in the summer and this dissolves everything really well. It says it’s for dry skin, but I have combo skin and it still works really well. It also smells amazing!

Step 2: Tone/ face wash
I feel that step two is quite personal and depends on what you like. This is another step I always do. You could tone at this point, but I like to use a face wash instead. I like the Neutrogena pink grapefruit facial wash and the Body shop Tea tree facial wash. This is one of the most important steps to get right, find the thing that works for you and stick with it. It can massively clear up your skin or break you out. It’s kind of like trial and error.

Step 3: Exfoliate
I don’t exfoliate every day, but once or twice a week I do. I really notice a difference in my skin when I do and when I don’t. This step is optional as exfoliating isn’t for everyone, but I like to. I like the Clearasil vitamins and extracts scrub and the Neutrogena pink grapefruit scrub and the two are very different. The Clearasil one is much more abrasive (which I like) and the Neutrogena one is less ‘scrubby’.

Step 4: Spot treatment
If I have a spot that needs dealing with, I will put some kind of treatment on to dry it out. I like the Body shop tea tree blemish gel and the Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel blemish stick. I don’t always do this though.

Step 5: Serum/ Face Mask
At this point you could use a serum or a facemask. I like the Body shop Bamboo face mask (which they don’t sell anymoreL) and I apply it like a serum and wait for it to sink in as it doesn’t set like clay. This is another step that I don’t do every day, but I always feel good when I do.

Step 6: Moisturiser
Moisturiser is another step I never skip. At night I use the Olay night cream and in the morning the No7 day cream. It balances out any dryness the previous steps may have caused.

Step 7: Eye cream
I don’t always use eye cream, only if my eyes are feeling sore and tired. I like the Body shop elderflower refreshing eye gel. This isn’t too heavy or thick, just nice, light and refreshing.
