I am
starting a new series called ‘Colour obsessions’ where I talk about colours
that I am currently obsessed with. Hopefully I will try to get one up around
every season and going with the trends for that particular season (pink for
spring, coral for summer, etc.) I am planning on doing pink, coral, peach and
purple but today I am doing RED. Red never used to be a colour that I was
obsessed with, but recently I have been loving a soft red lip and hot flushed
cheeks, so I thought I’d start the series with red.
A
soft red lip in the autumn and winter can look beautiful. I am currently in
love with the Tanya Burr lip gloss in ‘Heart skipped a beat’. It’s really
moisturising, pigmented and glossy. This is a big win. If you want something
even more subtle I would recommend the Body shop born lippy in strawberry.
However,
if you want a bold lip I would recommend the Rimmel Kate Moss matte lipstick in
111 “kiss of life”. It’s really bold and intense and the formula is great!
For
blush, I am in love with an old favourite, the No7 blush in Coral flush, which
it slightly muted but still really bright and red toned.
For eyes, I would not recommend wearing red as it can make your eyes look a bit blood shot, I know that red does that for me. I personally am loving brown pencil liner slightly smudged out in a wing and loads of mascara. You could try red toned coppery shadows, but I wouldn’t go for red on the eyes and lips unless it’s subtle.
For
nails, I don’t love wearing red nail polish, but the Barry M Gelly nail paint
in Blood orange is really good. Also Essie Haute in the heat from their 2014
summer collection is an almost red fuchsia and I really like it. If you can get
your hands it, I would definitely recommend it.
In
terms of body care I am loving the Body shop strawberry shower gel. It smells
SO good and they have a small version and a big version. I have the small one,
but when it runs out I will definitely be repurchasing it in full size. I also
have a sample size of the strawberry body lotion(that’s not very red!) and I
love that too. I don’t have any red skincare items, but if you have a
recommendation for me I would love to hear it.
For
fragrance I love the Marc Jacobs dot perfume. It’s floral and pretty, but also
slightly musky and grown up.
I
hope that this is interesting and gives you a few ideas for winter!
