Bare Minerals foundations are legendary in my books, with plenty of raves. As a loyal mineral user, missing my liquids, the newly released Complexion Rescue from Bare Minerals seemed like the perfect opportunity to try a new base.
With lightweight coverage and a glowy formula, its the perfect product for summer- apply with fingers as you would a moisturizer and blend. It is very buildable with a healthy and fresh appearance- very dewy.
The texture is gel based, quite thick when first applied, however once smoothed onto the skin, it becomes a little more watery and blends in seamlessly.
To apply, take a pea sized amount onto clean fingers and blend, starting from the centre of your face and working outwards, applying very little to the perimeter of your face. This gives necessary coverage where required. If needed pat a touch more onto any discoloration or redness, to disguise in a non-cakey way.
To prep my skin, I do prefer this product with primer. My favourite has to be the Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser, which seems to enhance the glow, despite matifying properties. In place of this you could also use your regular moisturizer.
In regards to packaging, it is quite simplistic, not too bulky which means its perfect to throw in your bag for any touch ups. By squeezing the product out through a small nozzle, it reduces product waste and bacteria build up. It also allows for necessary amount to be applied.
The finish is as mentioned before, very dewy, glowy and fresh. It is barely detectable on the skin, and very natural. In bright, harsh sunlight of the summer, it will still remain seamless.
I personally love this product- its a great slap-on-and-go product, which is exactly what I want in the warmer months. I don't find it clings to dryness, which is often an issue for me.
However, I do have a few complaints. Firstly, whilst the packaging is practical, its not the most pretty or glamorous. I also find that unless I powder throughout the day, I get quite shiny and greasy looking, which being a low maintenance makeup girl, isn't fabulous. But I do have combination skin, and am yet to try a foundation that controls my oil effectively.
As a tinted moisturizer I really rate this. Priced at £24, I think its totally worth it and I'd be willing to pay more. Roll on summer glow!
