The Festival Guide

With festival season at its peak, and Glastonbury on the horizon, I decided to share a few of my tips ahead of some of the big ones. Having been to a few festivals myself, I definitely know that I am one to over pack, or under pack, so hopefully this will help any festival newbies out there...
First, I should mention, that in two weeks time I will be posting a holiday guide, a comprehensive travel guide. This will talk in depth about packing make-up, a capsule wardrobe and other lifestyle essentials. In this guide however, I will be providing a few more tips regarding outdoors, and potentially camping.

In regards to make-up, whilst a dramatic festival look can be striking, from experience, if you are camping, its not very practical. Personally, I would go very natural and easy, with a hint of drama. You can decide whether its glitter, colour or shapes you go for. My one piece of advice however, is to choose one, not all. This will avoid an over done look.

My make-up bag consists of:

- Bare Minerals Complexion  Rescue Tinted Moisturiser
A natural base with light glow and dew, with build-able coverage

- Bare Minerals Multi-Tasking Powder
A duo of powder and concealer, to set and disguise

- Benefit Crease Less Cream Shadow in 'Blue My Mind'
A pastel shimmering blue for a wash of colour

- Benefit Roller Lash Mascara
For curled, defined lashes and super long length

- Bare Minerals Pop of Passion Lip Balm in 'Punch Pop'
A bright tinted balm, for an all day stain

* This post not sponsored by Benefit or Bare Minerals, I just genuinely love their products!

You could add to this by applying glitter to the eyelid and cheekbone, or using a pop of coloured liner to the eyes- Avon 'Tropical Blue' would be perfect for this!

Dry shampoo is yet another essential for festivals. With little facilities, hair tends to get greasy with out washing. Depending on how long you will be there for, dry shampoo can be applied in most situations, not just to reduce grease, but to add texture and volume. Colab gets this done perfectly, my personal favourite fragrance is Paris.

My preferred hair-do is a textured curly one. For the first day, curl your hair using electric curlers, crimper or even a straightener. Twist the end of the hair round the barrel and hold for a few seconds. Repeat this process through all the hair. Brush lightly through for natural loose waves.

A simple bohemian, fresh festival look will pair beautifully with this casual style. Topshop's blouse with kimono sleeves is perfect for this. The chic floaty and breathable material is ideal for summer. The pattern is also stunning. Pair this with a pair of white shorts (H&M) for a relaxed, modern look. If its a little chillier, or you're staying for two days, pair the white shorts with a lace blouse (Brave Soul) and thick woolly cardigan (Topshop). If there's rain, fear not, Fat Face has you covered with a yellow rain mac and wellies.

Lifestyle essentials mainly consist of ear plugs, for the night. Often camp-sites can be noisy, so to avoid being kept up all night by a disco VW, pack ear plugs. Pollen levels are also very high in the UK currently, so if you are a hay fever sufferer, pack some Piriteze or other form of medication.

Will you be going to a music festival this summer?
