A dewy, glowy and low maintenance make-up is the perfect look for summer and starter kit for those stepping into the beauty world. In this kit I've included a mixture of affordable and more high end items, so its perfect for any budget. The look is incredibly natural and easy, even for a newbie. Let's dive in...
COMPLEXION:
Starting with the complexion, a tinted moisturiser or sheer, dewy foundation that can be applied with fingers or a damp sponge, gives the perfect summer base.
The Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue has the perfect balance of coverage and glow, dew and natural seamlessness. The gel formula transforms over the skin, gliding over dry patches. This nourishes the skin, as a skincare product would. However, the thick cream texture becomes fine and sheer once blended. The colour range is also very inclusive, with a mixture of warm and cool tones, light and dark shades.
No7 also have an offering from the tinted moisturiser department, that is a little more affordable. Whilst the texture is similar, I find it has a more satin finish, with much less of a glow. The colour range is more limited, with 'Light' and 'Medium'. But if you can find the right shade, it's a lovely product.
CHEEKS:
To add a healthy flush to the cheeks, I like dabbing a little of your favourite lipstick onto the cheeks. By patting into the apples of the cheeks with clean fingers doesn't disturb the base, but adds a fresh, rosy glow. If you prefer a bronzey or sun kissed cheek there is a wide colour range for a different look.
EYES:
A thin winged liner at the base of the lash line gives definition, elegance and interest to the eyes, showing effort and a polished look in an effortless way. Soap and Glory's Super Cat liner has an easy applicator, a specially designed fine felt tip, that allows you to simply draw your chosen line across the lash line. This allows more precision and the tip to remains firm even in its last days. The slightly thicker nib allows for a bolder line with complete ease. You can also blend a little of the lipstick over the lids for a healthy flush.
LASHES:
Finish off your eyes with a few coats of an all rounder mascara, that does length and volume. This requires minimal effort with ultimate effect. Benefit's Roller Lash and Barry M's Showgirl Volume Mascara both deliver impact and definition, pigmentation and long-lasting flutter. Barry M's offering is much more natural and volumising, whilst Benefit's gives fluttery, long and feathery lashes that can be built for a dramatic night out.
LIPS:
Finally, a slick of nude pink lipstick never goes a miss and Mac's 'Peach Blossom' has the perfect blend of moisture and pigment. The Cream sheen finish has an almost glowy gloss look. If 'Peach Blossom' is a little light, Mac have plenty of colours and finishes to choose from. If you feel a little daunted, look for a store which has a Mac counter- their assistants are excellent in helping you find a colour match.
A natural flushed and dewy look is perfect for Summer and can take only minutes to apply . Its perfect for any newbie to the beauty world.
