Sheer nail polish can be really pretty, depending on the colour. I think a sheer pink can be quite pretty for an everyday and natural look. However, some can just be really annoying. Here are a few of my tips on how to use them in other ways…
Tip.1 White base
Using
a white base really helps boost the colour. You will probably only need one
coat if you have a white base. I like to use the Barry M Gelly nail polish in
Coconut, as its more of a cream, so doesn’t make your colour look too neon or
harsh. This can be the case if you have darker skin, so you could try a darker
cream or nude underneath. Obviously, this is more money to spend as you have to
purchase a base colour, but white does come in handy, especially for nail art.
Tip.2 Layering
Layering
sheer colours over other colours can create a variety of colours. If you have a
sheer green polish and an opaque baby blue and you layer them, you will get a
pretty mint. Obviously depending on the shades, you will get different results.
Here I layered a polish from Laval called pastel mint, over Barry M
huckleberry. I also layered Revlon parfrumerie pink pineapple nail polish over
Essie splash of grenadine, to create a pretty light pinky purple.
Tip.3 Good and bad
Obviously
you want to avoid buying a sheer colour in the first place. The few that I
found were just a little too sheer for my liking were:
·
Laval
pastel mint(I’m not sure where this is available)
·
Revlon
parafumerie pink pineapple, this is a colour that can work well sheer, but I
don’t know what the rest of the colours are like, but this needs 4 coats!!!
Generally
I purchase polish on recommendations, so don’t experience too many bad ones,
but those are the main ones. The ones that I really recommend are:
·
Essie-
I think if you want a good polish that is a little more expensive than others,
go for Essie. I have just done a brand review on Essie, so I will link it here.
·
Barry
M Gelly nail polish- these are really good and really affordable. I have done a
review of these recently here and think they are great for £3.99!
I
hope that this is helpful!
