DIY Christmas candle- Christmas series 2014 #3

I always have candles on my table for Christmas and I think that they look so festive and cute, so I thought that this would be a good DIY post. I want to just say- I am RUBBISH at DIY’s. As you can see, my candle is a glittery mess. Please don’t judge me. But, saying that, its pretty easy.

You will need:

  • Ribbon(whatever colour you want)
  • Tea light(candle)
  • Scissors
  • PVA glue
  • Small glue brush
  • Glitter/glitter nail polish/icing sugar(optional)

Step 1

Using your small paint brush and PVA glue paint around the candle, where your ribbon will go. Try not to make it too thick or too thin- try to leave some space at the top and the bottom. Only paint the width of the ribbon.

Step 2

Take your ribbon and wrap it around the candle, where the glue is. It doesn’t matter if the glue squeezes out from the edges- it should dry clear. You could use double sided sticky tape instead, but I went with PVA.

Step 3

With this step is where you can start to make it more personalised. You could mix glitter and glue (which is what I did) and paint that onto the ribbon and the top of the candle (but not on the wick). If you don’t have glitter then you could also use glitter nail polish. If you want a less glittery look then you could coat the top and ribbon with PVA and then sprinkle icing sugar on top- to create the illusion of snow. If you have any other cute ideas, please leave them in the comments. I would love to hear them.

So that’s it, 3 simple steps to a really cute (and glittery) Christmas candle!
