How to: wearable bright lipstick

I find bright lipstick a real pain. You have to be constantly watching that it’s not smudging all over your face and that it’s not really uncomfortable and drying. It’s hard to make it work, so here are some of my tips.

Tip.1 Lip liner- Yes or No
Lip liner isn’t essential for a bold lip, but it does help. If you don’t want to have loads of different colours to match your lipsticks, you could try an invisible lip liner or using a lip brush with your lipstick. I do find that lip liner last longer than lipstick on its own as well.

Tip. 2- Stain power
Blending your lipstick in as a stain will really help make your lipstick last. You can also soften it out with this technique, to make it less intense. Using a lip brush or your finger, apply a little so that you get a thin even layer all over. You can leave it at that or apply a lip balm or lip gloss over top. Or of course you could apply more lipstick, in thin even layers.

Tip. 3- Blot, blot, blot
For me blotting is one of the most important steps, especially if the formula is moisturising. I’m not a huge fan of matte lipsticks, but if you’re going bold its best. If you have a moisturising formula, but you don’t want to buy a matte lipstick, blotting it with a tissue to take away the moisture makes it matte. It might also take away a little of the colour, so keep applying, blotting, re- applying, blotting, until you get a really vibrant colour!

Tip. 4- Just a little powder
By adding a little powder over top over sets the lipstick and makes it really matte and last much longer. But don’t go too overboard, it can make them feel a little dry.

Some formulas and colours that I love for statement shades that are really easy to wear are:
·         Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in As you want Victoria
·         Bourjois Colour Boost glossy finish lipstick in Red Sunrise
·         Revlon lip butter in Tutti Frutti
·         No7 moisture drench lipstick (the one in the picture is Water lily, but it’s the formula I love for bold lipstick)
·         The Body shop Colour Crush lipstick in shade 15

I hope this is helpful!
