Essie brand review

Essie is a brand that I adore and have mentioned my love for the brand before. I think the brush is the BEST, the colours are beautiful, the packaging is adorable, I could go on for EVER! I think they are the best polishes on the market (for me personally) and they are totally worth the price.

Essie is actually a really interesting brand. It was started by Essie Weingarten (awesome name) in 1981 in the US and launched in UK salons in 1982. The Diffusion line launched in Boots and Superdrug in 2012, with a new brush. The diffusion line have 70 of the most popular colours, but there are more in some department stores, just with the old brush and price, which I believe is around ten pounds, but I’m not sure. Boots have a whole page on Essie’s history, so I’ll link that here.
I don’t have a crazy amount of colours, but I feel I have enough for this post. I have:  splash of grenadine, the more the merrier, haute in the heat, roarrange, ruffles and feathers and cute as a button.
I purchased three (haute in the heat, roarrange and ruffles and feathers) in their summer mini set and I don’t know if it’s still available. Essie has really sweet gift sets and also brings out their limited edition shades for each season which is really cute. Another summer collection polish is the more the merrier, which is the perfect lime green. You can’t buy this in store anymore, but might be on eBay (which is where I found mine).

I also have two permeant shades, splash of grenadine and cute as a button. Splash of grenadine is the perfect mix of purple and pink. It’s described as a playful magenta pink. I think that this is a perfect colour for all seasons. Cute as a button is described as a juicy persimmon delight. I think it’s a really cute pinky coral. This is perfect for the spring and summer.

Let’s talk packaging. I think that Essie packaging is hands down the BEST. It’s so cute, but still grown up. If I was going to have a nail polish as a fashion accessory, I’d have Essie. The brush is also fantastic and in my opinion the best. They are wide and quite long, but so easy to control. I find that for me they last about a two weeks on my toes(crazy I know) and 3, 4 or 5 on my nails, depending on what I’m doing. I apply two coats as that gives a really opaque finish and also helps it last much longer, although I could probably get away with one.

The only thing that I don’t love about Essie is the price. Although £7.99 in Boots and Superdrug isn’t a ridiculous amount, I feel that it is a bit overpriced for a polish. I personally think they're worth it if you want a really good quality polish and I would definitely recommend them.
