Sleep solutions

Drifting off into a peaceful and restful nights sleep isn’t the easiest. A bad night’s sleep leads to unwanted dark purple and blue bags and a pounding headache. This post will give you a few beauty recommendations and any other tips and tricks that I find helpful.

Having a relaxing and soothing bath before bed is a simple and effective way of feeling calm. A quick pampering session is the best way to unwind before bed. The Body shop shower gels smell super yummy and my favourites are strawberry, mango and moringa. If I’m looking for something a little more luxury, I also love the Gucci Flora shower gel. This is a really calming scent.

The Space NK bath oil in Jasamber is also a great one to pour into a running bath.  You only need a few drops for a soothing effect. You could also use it as a hair oil or body moisturiser. The Body shop coconut oil is also very similar.

Lush do some super smelling bath bombs that make your bath much more interesting. ‘Fun’ bath putty is kind of weird, but really cool too. I find that if you crush it up, it works in the same way.

I would recommend having a playlist of your favourite relaxing songs or YouTube videos by your side for entertainment. I currently love Gabrielle Aplin’s new acoustic album.

A pillow spray is a simple way to ensure a good night’s sleep. I personally love Avon’s Planet Spa range, especially the pillow mist. It smells like a muted sweet lavender and is really relaxing. I also like the solid perfume ‘sleep balm’. It not only soothes the skin where applied to and smells lovely too.

If you don’t feel like buying a pillow mist then you could try spraying your favourite perfume instead. I love the Marc Jacobs Daisy Delight, Flora Gucci and Coco Chanel. The Gucci and Chanel are more musky, soothing and calming, whilst the Marc Jacobs is very floral, lusciously delightful and fresh.
For a boost of hydration and plumping to the skin, take a look at my skincare post, where I explore some moisturising picks for winter.

Beauty aside, tying up loose ends before bed means that you won’t be worrying during the night about things you haven’t done, which induces a deep and peaceful sleep. Try then reading a book that’s not too challenging or a magazine, to help your brain calm down.

I hope this helps you calm before bed and sleep better.
