With Easter merely days away, nail art is definitely necessary. Cute chicks, fluffy bunnies and patterned eggs are an essential for the nails this time of year. Here is a fun, adorable and easy Easter nail art.
THE ESSENTIALS:
- Base coat
- Glossy top coat
- Duck egg blue
- Grass lime green
- Papaya peach
- Peony pink
- Jet black
- Pure white
- Sea green
- A detailed dotting tool
LOOK 1: CUTE CHICKS AND FLUFFY BUNNYS
Step 1
Apply a thick base coat to protect the nail bed and ensure longevity. I love Body Shop Top & Base coat for an all in one.
Step 2
Coat the nail with one or two even coats of lime green polish, to act as the grass. Essie 'The More The Merrier' is the perfect shade, not too dark or bold- a true spring shade.
Step 3
On half of the nail, apply a duck egg blue polish, the sky. Rather than using a true sky blue, this clashes less with the green and works in harmony with the other spring pastels. Try Barry M 'Huckleberry' for this shade.
Step 4
Using a dotting tool or even hair grip, dipped in the peach polish, use this to create the chicks. Work slowly, and carefully. I used Barry M 'Juicy Papaya' for this. Do the same with the white (Barry M 'Coconut') to create bunny rabbits. Add your own twist on this for a personal look. You can also add clouds if you want.
Step 5
Using the same dotting tool and jet black polish, Barry M 'Black', add details to your chicks and rabbits.
Step 6
Seal in your designs with the same Top & Base coat for a glossy finish and long- lasting look.
Step 1
Prime the nails with a base coat, I also love Avon Gold strengthener. This will again, ensure longevity of your des
Step 2
Apply 2 coats of alternate colours to your nails. These can be any colours, pastels or bolds. Try to have some variety though. I used Barry M 'Huckleberry', Barry M 'Papaya', Essie 'Cute as a Button', Essie 'The More the Merrier' and Illamasqua 'Venous', a shade for each nail.
Step 3
With a white or black polish and a large dotting tool, create random or organised dots around the nail.
Step 4
This step is where you can customise the look. You could use a metallic, glitter or coloured polish to fill in the centre of the dot. I used different colours to the base shade, for contrast.
Step 5
LOOK 3: FLORAL FLOWERS
Step 1
Same as all the looks, apply a base coat.
Step 2
Smooth the duck egg blue across the nail. Get an even and glossy finish by applying two coats. I used Barry M 'Huckelberry'.
Step 3
Apply just at the bottom, a slick of green polish. This shouldn't be too thick though. Then using the dotting tool, create stalks for the flowers. Try to make these smooth and even.
Step 4
Then, using your chosen colours, create flowers at the top of the stalks with the dotting tool. Using variations of sizes allows each one to stand out and appear more realistic and quirky. Fill in the centre with a white.
Step 5
Seal and lock your design in place with a glossy top coat.
You can mix and match the designs as I did, or simply one. Which design will you be using for Easter?
