Wearable budget smokey eye
A wearable, day time smokey eye is difficult to pull off. You want the impact, without the hassle and overdone look. This look will be quick and easy, with affordable products too.
Starting with a base- the Max Factor Cream Eye-shadow stick in the Shade 5, is a great bronze that can be swept all over the lid. Whilst being a warm bronze shade, it also has hints of taupe. The finish is beautifully metallic and can be layered to increase lasting power. Apply this mainly to the outer corner and then across the lid. Blend with clean fingers or a brush.
Then apply a black or brown pencil liner close to the lash line, but coming onto the lid area. This can be very messy- the less precise the better! Blend quickly this time to avoid it setting in the wrong place. The Rimmel Waterproof Kohl liner is a great product for this as it's creamy and easy to blend, but super long-lasting.
After this, apply the cream shadow to the inner eye area (waterline), for a softer look than black. This may feel strange, but with practice comes perfection! Line mainly along the lash line, not going too far in. This will keep a soft, day time appropriate look.
Add lashings of Barry M's Volume Showgirl mascara and layer until you have the desired effect.
Try to add an extra pop of blush, as a smokey eye can wash out the colour of your cheeks. Avon's 'Soft Plum' is a much deeper fuchsia and very pigmented. This is the perfect shade for a smokey eye. Sweep over the apples of the cheeks on a small, fluffy brush for a simple flush.
Rather than a typical nude lip, try a shade with a little more colour in. A sheer gloss is perfect for this- it isn't too overpowering, the attention is still on the eyes. Tanya Burr's 'Smile, dream, sparkle' is the perfect shade for this.
A wearable day look for any occasion!
